Butter bread on both sides.
Beat eggs, season with salt and pepper for savoury, or sugar for sweet, or leave plain for either.
Dip buttered bread into beaten egg, mixed with milk optional, and cook on hot griddle or pan
Serve with honey, golden syrup and cream
